‘Cultivating Murder’ Byron premiere screening of this timely feature documentary is about the disastrous effects of broad-scale land clearing in Australia, & will be launched by Greens MLC Dr. Mehreen Faruqi who will also conduct the Q&A following the screening with the filmmaker Greg Miller of Film Projects. Limited public access provisions currently apply to the Island Quarry while some key DA consent conditions are finalised. During recent times the Trust has made substantial progress in addressing these conditions through constructing onsite works including: Installation of a 350 metre long safety fence around the quarry waterhole; Ewingsdale Rd access road-works, bike path & earth-bund landscaping as per Council approval are all but complete & a 2 kW Solar Pumping system has been installed. iQ was successful in receiving funding through Public Reserves Management Fund of $15k to complete the access driveway to iQ Reserve & $24k to install fencing along the front of the iQ Reserve. The roadworks are a major consent condition prior to holding large public events. [more]
